Miriam (Mia) Cabello holds a J.D. from the University of Pennsylvania Law School. Her interest in intellectual property law stems from the cross-disciplinary nature of the field. She finds intellectual property law to be an ideal blend of the sciences and humanities.
Throughout law school, Mia sought opportunities to work with entrepreneurs and innovative technologies and products. She was a student counselor for the Detkin Intellectual Property & Technology Legal Clinic where she advised start-up clients on a variety of patent, trademark, trade secret, and privacy matters. Because of her strong client work and performance, Mia was invited to an advanced independent study for an additional semester during which she worked with Clinic clients exclusively on trademark matters.
Mia is passionate about improving access to education and opportunity for vulnerable and underserved populations. At Penn Law, Mia was very active in and held leadership positions in multiple pro bono legal projects, for which she received a distinction for her service at graduation.
During law school, she worked at the United States Attorney’s Office for the Southern District of Texas in Houston and in-house at Slack Technologies in San Francisco.
