Legal Experience

Emery works with employers and executives to solve complex legal issues.  She is Board Certified in Labor and Employment Law by the Texas Board of Legal Specialization.  


Emery has a proven track record representing clients at trial in federal and state courts across Texas and through arbitration, in addition to administrative proceedings. She has extensive experience litigating commercial, compensation, discrimination, harassment, retaliation, whistleblower, restrictive covenant and trade secret claims.

Emery applies thorough diligence to crafting employment-related agreements and policies, workforce management advice, conducting internal investigations, facilitating legal compliance and supporting employment transitions.  She routinely helps protect intellectual property, trade secret, and confidential information in the workplace.

 

Emery counsels employers and professionals with straightforward guidance and her sensitivity to nuanced dynamics.  Clients value her analytical approach, responsiveness and communication skills to achieve their goals.

Emery regularly represents clients in lawsuits regarding breach of contract, fraud and tort claims, in addition to jurisdictional challenges.  She thrives on all aspects of litigation, including trial and appeal.

Professional Activities

 

Emery is a member of the Houston Bar Association's Gender Fairness Committee.  In 2020, she received the Houston Bar Association President's Award for Outstanding Service as Co-Chair of the Gender Fairness Committee.  As part of her commitment to pro bono service, she provides employment counsel to Houston's largest non-profit supporting unhoused individuals and families.
