Educational Background

Munira graduated from the University of Texas – Austin with a B.S. in Biomedical Engineering, B.A. in Islamic Studies, and a minor in Arabic.

Munira attended law school at the University of Houston Law Center and graduated magna cum laude. During law school, she was an articles editor of the Houston Journal of International Law, a public interest fellow at the Tahirih Justice Center, a judicial intern to the Honorable Judge Lynn N. Hughes of the United States District Court of the Southern District of Texas, and a summer intern at the boutique IP firm Wong, Cabello, Lutsch, Rutherford & Brucculeri, L.L.P. She also received an IP scholarship from the Houston Intellectual Property Law Association.

Legal Experience

Munira’s practice encompasses a broad range of intellectual property issues including litigation, trademark prosecution, licensing, and Internet issues.

Munira has been part of multiple litigation teams including a case that went to trial and was appealed to the Fifth Circuit, and a case that went to trial and was appealed to the Federal Circuit. Thus, she has experience with all stages of litigation, from the filing of the Complaint to the appeals process. Her

litigation experience includes patent, copyright, trademark, and trade secret issues.

Munira advises clients on domestic and international trademark prosecution and enforcement, including providing clearance opinions, preparing new applications, and maintaining trademark portfolios. She also assists client with securing copyright registrations.

Finally, Munira has experience with IP licensing and various Internet issues including DMCA issues, UDRP transfers, domain disputes, and legal issues related to social media websites.

In 2021, Munira was named a Texas “Rising Star” in Intellectual Property by Super Lawyers.

Munira is a passionate about fitness and loves rock climbing, hiking, camping, and most outdoor activities. She also enjoys traveling, spending time with family, having game nights with friends, reading, and learning new languages.
